top 10 most disturbing films of all time
A few days ago went to this link that lists the 10 most disturbing films of all time. I think that list was just his/her personal list not an official one, but it still made me curious. Unfortunately , out of the ten on the list I was only able to watch 1 and it was Takashi Miike's Audition and I'm telling you that is one sick movie, I can still recall some of the scenes and they weren't pretty! Well, that kind of movie is expected from Takashi Miike, another movie that I have seen directed by him is Ichi the Killer ( I don't know but for me this is more morbid than Audition because up to now I haven't finished watching this movie, I'm still finding the courage to watch the second disc). He also did an episode for the TV series in the U.S. called Masters of Horror titled Imprint, apparently this episode was too disturbing for the US audience that it was banned from being shown on TV and was just released in DVD along with the other episodes of the series. So the curious me downloaded this episode a few months back and immediately watched it with my sister... Man! I didn't know I was in for a ride. I'm not the type of person who covers their eyes while watching horror films but this 1 hour episode made me do just that. I don't know if I'm exaggerating but in my opinion it was really disturbing (I kept repeating this because I can't think of any other word that would describe those films)! Trust me people those films are not for the faint of heart and kudos to Miike for making those kind of films!
Okay back to the top 10 most disturbing films, of course I researched on Wiki about the other films on the list and I think most of them would be interesting to watch like Salo, Irreversible and Cannibal Holocaust but I wonder if I would ever have the guts to do so because just recalling about the plot of those movies is making my skin crawl. My research did not end on the list but continued with the people's comments. Again, most the films mentioned were interesting but I'm still contemplating if I have a strong stomach to try and watch those.
Three movies that caught my eyes were Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Oldboy and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance also known as the Vengeance trilogy, all of them directed by Park Chan-wook. Now these three I know, because I have them all. i've seen Oldboy and it was a very good movie! Nice plot + good actors + acclaimed director = great movie, so great that it won a Grand Prix award at Cannes Film Festival back in 2004! I decided to watch Sympathy for Lady Vengeance I think last Saturday after being ignored a long time and I think I like this movie better probably because the main character is a woman and I think it has less gore while still keeping its' twisted and disturbing plot. I'm still deciding when to watch Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance but it will definitely be within the week. Rest assured that you can watch Park Chan-wook's film without pausing it but expect a bit of cringing here and there. I suggest you watch these three if you can't handle a Takashi Miike film (and if you think you can then watch at your own risk). Oh and by the way don't expect a ghost or a Sadako-like character to pop out of these films.
** I don't know why but for some reason I still haven't received a mail regarding my NCLEX result and it's driving me crazy. I need to know whether it is a good news or a bad news (although i definitely prefer a good news) because I really need to move on, the next thing I'm going to do would depend on the result. Keeping my fingers crossed and still praying for a successful outcome. I'm sticking to my theory that our post office is really slow, thus the reason for the delay.
